Spartans Game

Standard

We aren’t big Michigan State fans here, but we were excited when our friend called and offered to take Christian to the football game last weekend.   He has never had an opportunity to attend a college football game before so this was going to be a lot of fun.  Plus, he was going with his good friend C.

Christian was up at 5:40 in the morning waiting to get picked up.  I was a little nervous about him driving so far away with someone else but the night before T. sent me a sweet text that read:

I have a brand new Camry, will not drink and will treasure Christian along with my precious grandson!  See you early! ~T.

That message did my heart good because she thought to assure me, not knowing that I was worried, and that I always worry about other people driving my kids around.  So, at 7:30 they were off to Lansing for the big game.  But, not before I stressed the Buddy System at all times, reminded Christian a few times to never go to the bathroom alone, and tried to prepare for any possible emergency.

Because what if he were separated from his buddy and was injured and couldn’t tell anyone who he belongs to???

And he was happy to go with his friend, he was bundled warm, he had blanket rolls for both of them, and $10 for snacks (they shared cotton candy and nachos in the stadium) after a morning of tailgating and lots and lots of other fun food.

T. sent me a picture of their morning fun outside the stadium.

Christian really liked their seats and enjoyed the game experience.

And, even though the Spartans lost, a good time was had.  On the way home Christian and C. took dozens of silly photos like this:

I learned last summer that boys and cameras are an interesting combination!  A fun day was had and I was so thankful when my boy arrived home safely.  The day wore him out because he was very easily reduced to tears all evening and he slept in several hours late the next day.
